This study explored professional needs of faculty members at public universities and the Islamic Azad University(IAU). Data were collected using a five-point check list. Results indicated that academics at IAU needed to learn more about Windows software, conference presentation in English, and principles of effective communications. On the other hand, academics in public universities needed to learn more about academic writing in English, delivering speech in English, planning principles, effective communications, lesson plan preparation, and SPSS.
