A survey on the relationship between deans' personality aspects of Shahid Beheshti University in relation to their conflict management styles

Abstract

This study examines relationship between personality of university department heads and their conflict management styles. For data collection NEO-FFI five-factor personality shortened questionnaire and also managers’ conflict solution styles were completed by a sample of 45 department heads in ShahidBeheshtiUniversity. T-test, ANOVA and multiple regression were used for data analysis. Results indicated that the forcing style was dominant for conflict management.  A significant correlation was found between personality and   avoidance and accommodation style in managing conflict.  No significant relationship was found between personality dimensions and academic rank, job experience and field of study.
