Abstract

This study was aimed at exploring mechanisms for improving effectiveness of research grants at shahid BeheshtiUniversity. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of 234 academics from various faculties. Results in dictated that research grant had substantially increased during 1384-87. Basic science had the highest share of research funds where as Arts had the lowest one. Finally, it was suggested that deregulation and facilitation of procedures would enhance research profile of academic staff.
